The Hot Topic: The Power

Welcome to another edition of THT, this week is very much a mixed bag, but I do have some stuff to say… First off though…

Lay off WWE for negotiating with Tatanka… The guy looked good when he wrestled Eugene and he could be a Goldust or a Vis for the RAW roster, given a fair crack and less cynicism from those too young to remember or appreciate his first tenure except for tapes… He STILL has the longest unbeaten streak in WWE history ever… Why Not Use It?

Taboo Tuesday needs a shock match, Rey may provide it… I’d love to a vote for an opponent for him for the night… my ideal winner… HBK… Why not give us a dream match that you can only get at Taboo Tuesday!!!

Kudos to the Raw Roster for making the Triple H “walk of shame” the best segment for 2 years…. Everyone did their bit, you thought it was over with Show and Trips backing off…then Cena’s comments sealed Wrestlemania 22… “Respect” will be the key to that match!!

I am loving Ken Kennedy… Dye the hair dark for gods sake, make him look different to the old Heidenriech… then you have a major potential star..

Wembley reopens in a mere 7 months, what odds on Summerslam 06′ taking place there?

The stories of WWE event security stopping kids wearing old WWF t-shirts are very disturbing… Surely the World Wildlife Fund cannot be confused with a 3:16 shirt? Both Companies need to sit down and negotiate again cos both could lose heavily… If banning WWF t-shirts is policy, WWE could take a bath on free shirts or knowing UK Law, someone could sue and stop them selling shirts at all?… and how many WWF donators have kids who go to WWE shows or would disagree with suing them cos someone wore a T-Shirt?

Onto this months main event…question of new beginnings and revisiting old stories…

Let’s face it, we saw the finish of Orton/Taker in 1998, Kane did it in case you forgot… Sure it looked better this time, but it’s still rehashed… likewise we now on RAW have the McMahons back in full effect, and wouldn’t you know it, Stone Cold was the catalyst. Nothing new can come without the old school..

Much is being made of the “new era” that WWE is promoting “The Power Is Back” being the slogan of choice… Is this a reference to the McMahon’s? hmm Let’s face it turning Linda heel is hardly “returning the power”, what WWE is aiming for I think, is the power to shock… Cheesy as it was, Linda kicking JR in the balls was a shocking event… What next? I think Bischoff might be out of a job sooner as will Teddy… The shocking thing is to put the siblings in charge of rival brands..Shane Smackdown, Stephanie RAW…

Why that combination? Cos it forces them to revisit the past… Steph’s ex (current, whatever) being her MVP, having to get Trips onside in her goal to beat Shane and Smackdown would be priceless TV… Shane would be in the role he was in before respected by the future but their equal… Shane would fight himself for Smackdown..

The McMahons do not work as a united front, just as RAW and Smackdown do not work together anymore… Vince’s “power” has always been orchestrating…what better than playing his kids off against each other for control…sure we have seen this with Vince and Flair before, but with Steph and Trips v Shane for what in reality would be control of WWE… People would watch in their droves, the smarts cos they know this is pretty much legit… The marks cos they will see the passion both have for the business and they will see awesome shows and matches in the battle…Imagine if Shane was able to get Bret Hart onto Smackdown for example over RAW… There are some real goosebump moments up for grabs…

In reality WWE will probably have a different plan, but this works… in a big way…

Let’s hope…as ever give me a mail on robwilltaylor@hotmail if you think I am being a muppet with this idea or if you think it rules.. all feedback appreciated :)…

Till Next Time, Have Fun..
