AJ Styles Says WWE Would Be Dumb to Ignore RAW Star’s Momentum

AJ Styles believes WWE has a major opportunity on its hands following Chad Gable’s recent resurgence. The Hall of Famer doesn’t think the company can afford to let that momentum slip away.

Speaking on his Phenomenally Retro podcast, Styles made it clear that one RAW star has reached a new level of popularity after a dramatic few weeks.

Gable has been at the center of attention since losing a Mask vs. Mask match at AAA Noche de los Grandes. While the defeat marked the end of a significant chapter in his El Grande Americano story, it may have also opened the door to something bigger.

AJ Styles backs Chad Gable for a major WWE push

During the podcast, Styles praised Gable’s current standing with fans and urged WWE to make the most of it.

“He’s a bigger superstar than he’s ever been at this very moment,” Styles said. “And if we don’t capitalize, and I say we because I’m a part of WWE, we don’t capitalize on this, we’re dumb. We’re dummies.”

Styles went even further, suggesting that Gable has all the tools needed to reach the top of the card.

“He can be heavyweight champion. He’s a legit freaking pro wrestler,” Styles said. “There’s no way somebody in the crowd’s thinking, ‘I could take freaking Chad Gable.’ Dude, legit, he will drop you on your head and there’s nothing you can do about it.”

The comments come shortly after Gable’s emotional appearance on SmackDown. Following the conclusion of the El Grande Americano storyline, he approached Rey Fenix backstage. He apologized to Fenix for mocking lucha libre culture. Fenix accepted the apology but reminded Gable that several other luchadors may still be waiting for one.

That segment signaled a noticeable shift in Gable’s character and continued the momentum that has followed him since the decisive loss.

Whether WWE follows Styles’ advice remains to be seen, but Gable’s recent rise has certainly caught the attention of one of the company’s most respected veterans.
