Title This: WWE Monday Night Raw Reaction 9-26-2011

David Otunga is backstage with Vickie, Christian, Cody, and Dolph. He rattles off cases about Triple H. Otunga feels that they need to do something about this themselves. Everyone is in. I am intrigued on how this will come about with many different characters coming together.

Alberto Del Rio vs. C.M. Punk Review:

John Cena is announcing for this match. Punk and Del Rio exchange reversals, and Punk begins to work on the right arm of Del Rio. He applies a head lock, and punches away at Del Rio. Punk tosses Del Rio to the outside, and begins thrusting knees to his chest. Punk throws Del Rio and almost hits Cena. Punk throws Del Rio back into the ring, but Del Rio gains the offensive. He hits quick punches, and viciously chokes Punk on the bottom rope. He kicks Punk into the corner, and continues to be on the offensive. Del Rio hits a head kick onto Punk, as he is taken out on the outside of the ring. We get back from commercial, with Del Rio applies some submission moves. He also hits a front dropkick to the chest of Punk. Punk finally gets back on the offensive, connecting with kicks. Del Rio quickly hits a powerful clothesline, and gets a two count. Del Rio misses a dive, and flies through the middle ropes to the outside. Punk gets caught up on the rope, but Punk hits a boot and gets a two count. We get some great in ring work from both guys, with a combination of submission moves and grounding offensive attacks. Punk goes back to the well, kicking Del Rio, and hits a kick to his head for the victory. The Cell begins to come down after the match is over. Cena traps Rodriguez, and the Cell is down. Rodriguez is trying to get out, but gets a GTS, followed by an AA. Both men try their finishers, but Del Rio unloads with chair shots onto Cena and Punk. He continues the beatdown as Raw goes off the air.

Reaction:

The main event was fantastic, because it showed pure wrestling between the ropes. I loved the back and forth struggle that was shown between Del Rio and Punk. They gave us everything you could ask for. I felt like the finisher was too quick, as a kick to the head got a victory? I was thrown off by that, but when the cell came down, it made sense. I feel seeing those three in the ring was great. They had Del Rio look strong, which was the best option. You have John Cena being John Cena, so he does not need that. You have the crowd favorite Punk who has been on a roll, aside from the Triple H loss, so having Del Rio win builds anticipation and intrigue to the Pay Per View on Sunday. They did enough in this angle to build an interest from me in 2 weeks. I wish they would have announced another title match though, as right now there are only 4 matches on the card, one being a Diva’s match. Overall, this match and segment gets an A.

Overall Grade: B+
