WrestleZone’s Top Ten: Gimmick Matches

Number 7: Casket Match

Undertaker

First appeared in 1992 as the Coffin Match, The Undertaker is the sole creator of this extremely unique match. A casket is placed at ringside, with the winner having to put his opponent in the casket and closing it shut. A match that is specifically designed for one superstar was rare in the 90's, so this was a stepping stone for others to have their own match. Think of the devilish type of match the Casket Match is. It really is haunting and makes a regular one on one match better. Taker is a guy who is good enough to carry a gimmick like this, adapts to his character, and even has been stolen by TNA. 2010 features Abyss and The Pope, but nobody will really remember this match for them. The deadman and caskets go well together just like steroids and Chris Masters.
