Mt. Killamanjaro: WWE SummerSlam 2012 Preview & Predictions

Brock Lesnar vs. Triple H

LesnarThis feud, at least to me, is missing a certain spark that Lesnar's match with Cena definitely had going in. I think it was an ounce of unpredictability. I didn't expect Brock to return; when he did I really didn't expect him to bust open Cena several weeks in a row. Their match had a "real fight feel" to it. I thought, Brock is going to tare Cena apart! And he did…

This match feels like a professional wrestling feud. I think if that's the biggest problem WWE has on their hands, this is shaping up to be one hell of an old fashioned slobber-knocker! I'm beyond confused what's happening with the rules here though. Originally Heyman had said there weren't going to be any rules; that we'd see some sort of Hardcore stipulation. Then we had legal documents signed – never a compelling angle in professional wrestling – that almost seem to turn this "match" into more of a "unsanctioned fight". You go onto WWE.com and it simply lists Triple H vs. Brock Lesnar as one of the regular wrestling matches…

Nevertheless, I have faith in these two to produce. I have faith in WWE to follow through with this story and deliver a hellacious match, no matter the stipulations, or lack thereof. I also see more to come on the horizon. Shawn Michaels is going to want some retribution for his arm being broken – Come on Brock, how is the man supposed to hunt in a sling? Will it yield the return of HBK from retirement? Doubtful. But it may rise the Deadman from his grave to answer the call for a friend. Or are they like, "frenemies" now?

Prediction: Brock Lesnar wins

WWE Championship

CM Punk (c) vs. Big Show vs. John Cena

CM PunkI'm really scared going into this match. Normally my take on a wrestling match is that no matter who wins or loses, as long as a great story is being told in and out of the ring, I'm a happy camper.

NOT THIS TIME.

The rumor circulating for weeks is that John Cena is set to take the belt from CM Punk tonight, so that he can defend it against the Rock at the Royal Rumble. Not only is there entirely too much time to between then and now to be booking decisions like this, I have absolutely ZERO interest in watching John Cena with the WWE Championship…again. It's not an anti-Cena thing, it's not a "please don't let him in get near Ric Flair's record" thing. It's simply that I don't want to see ANOTHER Punk/Cena match after tonight. I'm done; these two have drawn every last ounce of interest from one another, and I couldn't be more ready to move on to something, anything else at this point.

I would rather the Big Show win tonight than John Cena. At least the Big Show, as a dominant heel, provides a believable challenge and a fresh string of matches for CM Punk to chase after going into Survivor Series. Cena doesn't need to win tonight in order to feed a belt to the Rock in January. There's no sense to that. Not only does it completely ruin any and all surprise of The Great One winning the belt, but it's going to put Rocky over Cena in yet ANOTHER match? Nope.

Keep the belt on CM Punk. Let him defend it until the Royal Rumble, and if it's really necessary, let him be the guy to drop it to the Rock. Then at least their WrestleMania match will mean something; because if Cena has to be the transitiational guy in the equation, it will prove once and for all that management simply doesn't trust CM Punk with the ball.

Prediction: …John Cena wins. New, 13-time World Champion.
