Wrestlezone’s Top 10: Jerry Lawler Moments in Professional Wrestling

Number 1: Andy Kaufman

The “slap heard around the world” will be remembered for the rest of our lives. When you talk about professional wrestling and their cross into mainstream media, it easily could have started here. Late night television held Lawler and Kaufman, two guys who legitamately hated one another. Lawler called out Kaufman’s antics by wrestling women, calling out his man card. Kaufman told Lawler that he was going to sue him, after he shoved him to the mat. That is where it all started, and really lives forever. Lawler’s feud was with a comedian, not a wrestler, but it was the best thing that happened to him. As the feud continued, you knew that both personalities would make this work. I could easily say Andy Kaufman will be inducted into the celebrity wing of the WWE Hall of Fame, and it is thanks to his incredible personality and Lawler’s ability to bring the best out in him.

His life outside of his obsession with wrestling include being a savant for Seinfeld, NFL, NBA, MLB and many television shows. He also has an undying love for musicals, which includes many shows he was a part of in high school. Some of his favorite wrestling moments can be linked to such superstars as Edge, The Rock, Bret Hart, Shawn Michaels and The Great Khali.
