What’s NOT Bothering Me: Lawler, Hardy/Aries, AJ Styles

AJ Styles#2. AJ Styles Nearly Guaranteed For BFG Next Year

He may have lost last night and is now unable to compete for the world title until next year's Bound For Glory, but it's still a good sign for AJ Styles. I don't think that stipulation would have been included if they didn't plan on following up on it when it's time. It all but guarantees in my mind that Styles will in fact be challenging for the championship around this time next year.

That one match, win or loss, will be better than just about everything else Styles has done in the past two years combined.

I don't blame AJ Styles for the direction his career has taken in recent memory. It's not like he's lost his phenomenal talents in that time. Rather, Dixie Carter and the men she's had in charge of Creative are to blame. I don't think they know how to consistently put over any one talent for any great length of time.

Styles isn't the only one that's suffered as a result either. Samoa Joe couldn't be more over with loyal TNA fans, still to this day, despite how poorly they've managed his character over the years. I'm impressed with how both men have handled it.

A year is a long time in pro wrestling, so TNA has plenty of time to mess it up, but I would suspect they tread carefully with AJ Styles until the BFG Series kicks off again. He's already the clear favorite to win it and I won't argue with that.

Then again, James Storm was the easy choice this year and we see how quick TNA is to change their minds.
