The Wrestlemania Prediction Machine Part 1: WZ Staff Predicts the Undercard Winners

Fandango vs. Chris Jericho

Fandango

Mike Killam:

Fandango’s character is obnoxious. He’s not acting, just shouting things in a weird, over-dramatic accent that makes him sound like a bad Spanish soap star (I think that’s the point). Also, a diving leg drop doesn’t disprove a  “you can’t wrestle” chant. That being said, Jericho can carry just about anyone to a decent match, and since he very rarely wins these days, I’ll give the victory to the up-and-comer.

Nick Paglino:

I realize most people (including myself) are on the fence with Fandango, and feel that Chris Jericho “deserves better” at WrestleMania, but I don’t think Jericho feels that way. He has said in many interviews in the past that he’s accomplished all there is to accomplish in WWE and in pro wrestling, and his place in the company at this point in his career is to help put over new talent. Does this mean Fandango will get the win at WrestleMania? Not necessarily. I still see Jericho getting the W in this match, but the feud won’t end at WrestleMania, and in the end Fandango will win the war.

Josh Isenberg:

Fandango is improving each and every week. Even though I personally wanted to see Jericho in a high profile match, I feel like this is perfect for a young guy in his “first” match. Fandango’s character is able to go from a dancer to an aggressive wrestler. Even though we have not seen him in a match, you can see his aggression and intensity in spurts. I think Jericho takes the loss here because he has told us time and time again that he has done everything in WWE. Add losing to a newcomer on the grand stage.

Brian Gulish:

Haven’t we already seen this match 15 years ago in WCW – Chris Jericho vs. Disco Inferno!  All joking comparisons between Fandango and Disco aside, this match could be a great start to the night.  For all the build-up to his character, I think Fandango defeats Y2J clean, in a great technical contest.

Bill Pritchard:

Actually looking forward to this match, as I detailed in my Superstar Spotlight column last week. Fandango is getting a big chance here, on a big stage against a great opponent who will make him look good. I like the character, and I expect Fandango to win. Another thing that would be great to see is have him try to walk out on the match again to gain some heat. Walking out on a Mania match would really set the crowd off, but Jericho would attack him on the way to the ring and ‘save’ the match by making sure it happens.
