Mike Killam & the WZ Forums Predict: Bound for Glory 2013

MAGNUS vs. "THE ICON" STING

Mike Killam: The story coming across on TV is that Sting wants to put over Magnus in the same way Ric Flair put him over in WCW/NWA. What I actually see is TNA running out of options, because they let a bunch of people go, a bunch more didn't re-sign, Kurt Angle went to rehab, and their two major factions fell apart over the course of about a month, because NOBODY WAS LEFT. I love Sting. I have his action figure sitting on my shelf right now. But, and I say this with as much respect as humanly possible, I cannot take him seriously as a credible wrestler at this stage in his career. Wrestling in t-shirts works for Kevin Steen; not so much for an aging Hall of Famer. But if anybody can put over Magnus in a big way, it's Sting. Magnus to win. If he doesn't, TNA has serious problems.

Coco: On paper, the build has been great. Unfortunately, wrestling is a living, breathing thing that goes beyond what's on paper. The problem here is that Magnus has no real spark to him. He's as fun to watch as a CBS cop procedural and as a result the build has suffered in execution. Still, this is the most commitment TNA has ever shown to Magnus, a guy their most respected veterans have been talking up as "the future" for years now. I expect they pull the trigger and give him his big win. Magnus takes the victory while I take the non-smark POV and pull hard for the Stinger. And when I say "pull hard for," I mean "root for." Get your mind out of the gutter!

Rated R Nightmare: Sting winning this match would be horrible. The whole point of Magnus's big losing streak is to get him a huge win to end it and that huge win should come right here. I expect a heel turn to do it after Sting survives a finisher. This should be a good match though and hopefully Magnus picks up a clean victory.

klunderbunker: It's the annual student vs. teacher match and I'm hoping the student wins. However, the worst thing they can do is the most likely outcome: Magnus turns heel to win. TNA's upper midcard is full of heels at the moment and another one isn't going to help anything. Sting doesn't need to win another match in his entire career and a win for Magnus would at least feel like a big deal. Hopefully this ends the Main Event Mafia as there's no point to them being around anymore.
