Wrestlezone’s Top Ten “Must See” 2014 WWE Hall of Fame Inductees

#7 – Miss Elizabeth

When I think "best managers in history" my mind goes immediately to Jimmy Hart, Bobby "The Brain" Heenan and Freddie Blassie. But when all of them lined up to be Randy Savage's manager in 1985, it was the completely unknown and gorgeous Miss Elizabeth who won out. From that point on Elizabeth and Savage belonged to each other. Where one went, the other followed. Even in the days of the Macho King, when Sensational Sherri took up the role, the fans were dying to see pro wrestling's greatest power couple resume.

Elizabeth was, arguably, the best woman to ever connect with a wrestling audience. More than a little of Savage's insane popularity is due to having the First Lady of Wrestling at his side. The "Match Made in Heaven", the on-screen wedding between the two, was the true main event of the 1991 SummerSlam pay-per-view. When they reunited at WrestleMania VII, the roof exploded off the LA Sports Arena. Randy and Elizabeth's real life divorce made national news. There were several events were Elizabeth, believe it or not, got bigger pops than Hogan and Savage. Despite not actually competing as a wrestler, she was likely the most over woman in sports entertainment history.

I understand the WWE not wanting to put Miss Elizabeth in the Hall of Fame after her shocking death. There was a lot of controversy that, quite frankly, they didn't want to or need to involve themselves in. But it's been over a decade since she passed away, and with Savage more of an option than ever, I don't think the time has ever been more appropriate to induct Elizabeth into the WWE Hall of Fame.
