3/16 Wrestlezone Recap: New Hall of Famer Announced, WrestleMania Line-Up, TNA Roster on the Move, WWE’s Top Five of 2014 & More

cm punkWWE released an internal list of the "top five" guys they plan on pushing after WrestleMania.

  • John Cena
  • Daniel Bryan
  • Randy Orton
  • Sheamus
  • Roman Reigns

It's good to hear they haven't given up on Sheamus. The guy, besides being a really good wrestler that always puts on entertaining matches, is money in the bank. For some reason, IWC fans hate him. They boo or "boring" most of his segments, which is beyond stupid. Aren't we supposed to like good wrestlers? Watch Extreme Rules 2012 again if you really need reference. Like Batista, they'll probably have to turn him heal again to make it work.

John Cena nor Daniel Bryan is a shocker. With no CM Punk, they're the most easily marketable guys on the roster. Randy Orton is the current WWE World Heavyweight Champion, and if/when he inevitably drops the title at WrestleMania, they can't just write him off entirely. They'd be moronic to do so.

Roman Reigns is a great choice for #5, but I wonder how they're going to elevate him to that position in the coming months. He'll be a top tier talent the second he splits from the Shield, but to be top five you have to be in the title picture, or be a former champ they can easily put back there – see: everyone else on this list. If Bryan wins the title at WrestleMania, it's not likely Reigns will get a shot right away, unless they keep him heel, which isn't likely (or intelligent). I could see a Reigns vs. Ambrose feud going on into the summer. Reigns vs. Bray Wyatt perhaps? Reigns vs. Triple H at SummerSlam would be an amazing blockbuster match that I think most of us would pay to see.

Where's Batista on this list, I wonder?
