Stars in Progress: Daniel Bryan Moves Up Despite Injury, WWE’s Top Angles Treading Water, Good News for Divas & More

Bobby Roode – One Giant Step Up

The "IT Factor" of professional wrestling is, in my estimation, the best star TNA has ever produced. Kurt Angle was well-established as an Olympian and world champion before he came to Impact. Sting was a legend 15 years ago. AJ Styles is in that conversation for obvious reasons.

Roode has been wandering around the roster for some time now, locked out of major angles and main event title matches – until recently. There's no mistaking that Roode is a GREAT heel, but I'm very intrigued to see if he can bring that same charisma and intensity to his run as a top babyface. His in-ring promo with Eric Young last week was very good. His in-ring promo with MVP was just as good, if not better.

The Whole TNA Roster – Step Up

I started thinking about other people to talk about from the TNA roster, and after last week's Impact I just found too many I wanted to put over. The Menagerie debuted with a memorable entrance and gimmick – Rebel is HOT – and I think they'll be an act we end up talking about a lot. The Wolves had a solid title defense. Ethan Carter III was put over in a big way. We already talked about Bobby Roode. Bully Ray and Rockstar Spud are consistently entertaining together.

On top of all of that, Eric Young's title reign continues to be interesting television. He's had good matches, and now he has a developing program against MVP. I won't spoil next week's show, but it involves a bunch of guys who TNA can use in a BIG way right now. I don't know who Bram is, but I'm interested. Everybody has something going on.

When you watch WWE programming, how many actual STORIES are happening on the roster? How many of those so-called "stories" are just two guys beating each other up? Not the case in TNA.
