Brock Lesnar and John Cena Sell SummerSlam
The night began and ended with the big main event on Sunday. Brock and Paul come out to talk about Brock breaking the streak and how he conquered it. Heyman talks about Brock Lesnar being a rookie and beating The Rock at SummerSlam and how he beat Hulk Hogan in his rookie year. Heyman says that we will not see John Cena around WWE anymore and shows footage of Extreme Rules 2012. He talks about how Brock Lesnar was only 50 percent and was recovering from his illness that took him away from UFC. Paul Heyman says he is Brock Lesnar’s advocating Jew and then begins to rap to Cena. Paul Heyman says that this is Brock’s house.
Cena counters with a promo on the top of the final hour. He says he will not lose to Brock Lesnar and does not like him. He calls him arrogant and a bully. He talks about all he has heard from the WWE Universe. He talks about how the fans ask when he will turn. He says everyone wants to know when Cena will turn and unleash hell. Cena says he gets his wish and the fans will get his wish and will get a different John Cena.
At the end of the night, we got some great sights of NWO, Ric Flair, Roddy Piper and more. We get the celebration of his birthday and an incredible video of his career. Brock Lesnar comes out and interrupts. He threatens Hogan and out comes John Cena. Lesnar and Cena stand eye to eye and Lesnar backs off.
I thought WWE did an incredible job tonight, beginning and ending with what will sell WWE SummerSlam. I cannot begin to explain how brilliant Paul Heyman is every single week. Yeah, we missed the feud over the past two weeks, but this made me more interested to see them get their hands on one another. I was pleasantly surprised to hear Heyman talk about what Lesnar has done in his earlier years. WWE tries to make us forget sometimes. Either way, the two biggest names in WWE will sell WWE SummerSlam. Hogan was a nice little pawn in the story tonight.
