Batista vs. Triple H
Vengeance ’05
Triple H can not beat Batista.
At least, that was the story going into Vengeance 2005. After the final remnants of Evolution crumbled, Batista took his Royal Rumble win, signed the RAW contract (remember those days?) and went on to defeat his former mentor in the main event of WrestleMania. At Backlash, in an effort to prove that Dave’s win was a fluke, Triple H geared up for a rematch for “his” World Heavyweight Championship…and lost, again.
This Hell in a Cell match was the third consecutive victory for the “Animal”, and as he was immediately drafted to Smackdown – taking the title with him – the feud ended on that note.
It’s been nine years, and the two have yet to face off in another singles match. So, I guess Triple H really can’t beat Batista…
This match is great. Simple booking, a straight-up brawl, tons of weapons including a steel chair wrapped in barbed wire; no shenanigans. Go watch this match. Then watch it again.
