Isenberg Reacts: Impact Wrestling “Next Great Heel?”

Eric Young defeated Tommy Dreamer

impact wrestlingVia Wrestlezone Live Coverage:

Dreamer says the last time he was in the ring his neck got messed up, so he wants Eric Young out there now so he could kick his ass. Eric’s music cues up but he never comes out, so Dreamer says he will go find him if he has to. Eric attacks him near the production area, then they fight back out into the arena, and Dreamer screams for a referee. He says they’re going ‘old school,’ then he slams Eric with a chair and throws a beer in his face. Eric crotches him on the barricade and bites his forehead, then he he bites him again and makes Dreamer bleed. Dreamer whips Eric into the ringpost and puts a table in the ring, but Eric kicks it into his face and elbows him a few times. Eric slams him on the table and heads up top, but Dreamer crotches him on the turnbuckles and superplexes Eric through the table. Dreamer hits Eric with a low blow and calls for a Death Valley Driver, but Eric slams him headfirst into a chair before ending it with a piledriver.

Eric Young picks up an aggressive and intense win. If they wanted to make it a goal to make Young look ruthless and aggressive, they are getting there. Another solid week for Young in a spotlight that is NOT in the  main event, but still critical to his development as a dominant heel.

Is Eric Young the next great heel?

New Number One Contender

Impact Wrestling ended with a 20 man Gauntlet Match. It all came down to MVP vs. Kurt Angle. The last two were the two men who NEEDED to be there. Kurt Angle has been solid upon his return and his “feud” with Lashley is beginning to brew. MVP has a great ability to be hated. His feud with Lashley has been developing for quite some time. I thought TNA would go with Kurt Angle, but MVP gets a cheap win thanks to Kenny King.

Lashley vs. Angle will be more intriguing if it is built up longer. MVP is a good candidate for Lashley right now. Now is the key word here. TNA realized that they do not need to book on a week to week basis, but more long term. Angle is a long-term feud for Lashley. MVP has had his time to get under the champion’s skin. Good booking decision here and the match was decent as well.
