A British Point of View: Bray WHYat

wwe rawBray’s credibility as being something different has taken so many knocks now that I don’t see him as such. He is just another heel who doesn’t deliver on what he says and every time he starts a promo in his dark room I start to roll my eyes thinking that I’m about to get another series of rambling messages separated by manic chuckles that mean absolutely nothing.

This ‘face of fear’ character would work if he actually felt like a threat to everyone on the roster but unfortunately that is not the case. I see him as a stop-gap for people who WWE don’t have anything for at the moment. He went after Dean because his story with taking the title from Rollins was coming to a head, he has now started facing Reigns because they want to keep him out of the title scene due to crowd reactions and the less said about his strange and brief rivalry with Ryback the better.

It’s unfortunate because he has been on the main roster now for over two years and what has his character actually achieved? I’m not saying that everyone should immediately become World Champion as soon as they walk through the door but when he first debuted on the main roster you would have probably said that within two years he would have held a title or be currently involved in the title picture. If you ask me now, I think he’d look very out of place if you were to insert him into the title picture at this stage.

Look at Wade Barrett, my last article pointed out how underutilised his character is. Maybe someone at WWE read my article and decided that things needed to change (very unlikely); or maybe someone realised how ridiculous his losing streak was (more likely). Now Wade is hitting new heights with victories over Zack Ryder and Jack Swagger with rumours swirling around of his upcoming the main event against Wayne Rooney at WrestleMania 33 in England! Ok, I kid but at least Wade is on the rise, until he probably faces R Truth on the Battleground Pre Show, sigh.

My point, relating it all back to Bray Wyatt is that this can all be changed very quickly. As we know, wrestling (sorry Sports Entertainment) has a memory span of about 3 months so this could all be swept under the carpet and Bray could go on an unstoppable believable streak at some stage.

Only time will tell but it seems a shame that someone like Bray Wyatt who has an awful lot in his favour, is currently being forced to play a supporting role which his character was not designed to be. I’m sure we will see a lot of great things from him in the future, until then, we’ll just have to wait it out.

Do you agree that Bray Wyatt is being underutilised? Do you think that there has been too much hype placed upon him? Let me know on Twitter @BeansOnToastUK, email at beansontoastuk@msn.com or in the comments section below.
