Isenberg Reacts: Previewing NXT Takeover Toronto and Why There Will Be New Champions

Tag Teams are Back in NXT

NXT Takeover: Toronto has two tag team matches for two different awards. First, the finals of the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic pits TM-61 and The Authors of Pain in a match that pairs two completely different types of teams. We have seen, over the past month, more in-ring ability from The Authors of Pain. It began with two months of two minute matches and now we are seeing the growth in front of our eyes. TM-61 will always be a tag team that excites, relies in the splash moves and gets the crowd behind them with their innovative offense. When these two teams face each other, I do think NXT needs to give AoP the win. They need to be winners of this tournament and begin to chase the NXT Tag Team Championships. With that being said, I do think we could see a new team atop of the NXT Tag Team Division.

2 out of 3 Falls between The Revival and #DIY spells “Match of the Year,” doesn’t it? I went back and watched their classic bout in Brooklyn and loved every second of it. That was one of my favorite matches of 2016 and feel that this has the makings to top it. I really hope that the first two falls are not just simple wins for each team. I want it played out over 30 minutes, with near falls and both teams struggling to get even one victory. With Gargano and Ciampa, they have made a random pairing into something that is almost must-see in NXT. For The Revival, this could be the end of the road of their dominant tag team reign. I do not think it should be, but I think it happens. And, with one more rematch potentially in January, The Revival could get their NXT curtain call in early 2017.

Do not worry. The Revival are NOT The Ascension. They are NOT The Vaudevillians. They certainly are NOT The Lucha Dragons. If anything, The Revival and American Alpha are going to carry the tag team division in 2017 on the main roster. How perfect of heels would they be against The New Day? How about Cesaro and Sheamus vs. The Revival? They are old school and hard hitting. Excellent ring workers never go out of style.

His life outside of his obsession with wrestling include being a savant for Seinfeld, NFL, NBA, MLB and many television shows. He also has an undying love for musicals, which includes many shows he was a part of in high school.
