Confusion in the Tag Team Division

Using a slight distraction from the referee, Primo and Epico Colon have a pinfall victory over the former Smackdown Live Tag Team Champions. Dropping The Shining Stars gimmick was a smart idea for these guys, but I still wonder why they are getting wins over American Alpha. Who is more marketable? Who is younger, more talented and SHOULD be the champions right now?

I am always an advocate on developing depth in the tag team division, but continuous losses for American Alpha makes them “just another tag team” when they should not be viewed like that. When The New Day arrives, they should have American Alpha and The Uso’s ready to go for them. There is not a need for a fourth important tag team. Lastly, many people think a Carlito return would help this group. I am not so sure that I would agree.

The New Face of America

A shaved beard. A more negative ( if that is possible) outlook on his competition. Kevin Owens will beat Chris Jericho and then face off against AJ Styles after WWE Payback ends. That feud should be very fun and give prestige and importance back to a championship that John Cena brought back from obscurity a few years ago. Even though Jericho and Reigns had it around their waist, it never felt like it was the actual storyline. It can feel that way now, with what they are doing with KOMania.

Big names have carried it, but I do think having Kevin Owens and AJ Styles battle for it a few months gives it much more intrigue. It can also keep both men very important while others are potentially competing for the WWE World Championship.

We will see one or both of these men in a World Championship match at SummerSlam. With the depth of potential main eventers, including these two, Baron Corbin, Shinsuke Nakamura, Randy Orton and Luke Harper they will have a hard time figuring out the best route. Speaking of Shinsuke Nakamura, how great would it be if WWE gave Nakamura a world title match, while AJ and Kevin battled for the face that runs the place… or the United States.

It looks like it is getting to the point where WWE does not care who the world champion or US Champion truly is. Is that good or bad? You tell me.

Currently, Josh Isenberg works for Major League Baseball in their Advanced Media Productions. He grew up in Pittsburgh and went to Point Park University, which is where Chair Shot Reality is filmed each week.

His life outside of his obsession with wrestling include being a savant for Seinfeld, NFL, NBA, MLB and many television shows. He also has an undying love for musicals, which includes many shows he was a part of in high school. Some of his favorite wrestling moments can be linked to such superstars as Edge, The Rock, Bret Hart, Shawn Michaels and The Great Khali.
