Tag Team Action With Sanity
One team that I want to see on a weekly basis is Eric Young and Alexander Wolfe of Sanity. As both men play off of each other so well, they need to have some sort of title run in NXT before being called up to the main roster. When will it happen though? Tonight was not much of an indication when they can get this opportunity, as a squash win over The Ealy Brothers does not have much meaning in the long run.
With the emphasis on Heavy Machinery, I fear that Sanity could be involved in another 6 man tag team match in Brooklyn. They have been so consistent and have a gimmick that still feels like they can do more with. If they want to reach that next level, they should be the team that dethrones Authors of Pain. They deserve it and I think having them with a potential NXT Women’s Champion in Nikki Cross could really elevate their importance and status in NXT. It is needed sooner rather than later.
Roddy and Bobby Brawl
It broke as a WWE.com exclusive earlier in the day, but the footage was shown of Bobby Roode getting a photo shoot and then seeing Roderick Strong with his son and wife. He tells his wife when she wants to be with a real man to let him know. Roddy attacks the champion and they both have to be separated. A match for the NXT Championship is set two weeks from Wednesday night.
This was great and different. I loved the exposure that they are giving Strong and the creative outlet this feud has become. It feels real when they do not script every word in front of the live crowd. The involvement of his family is also another really positive step in his development. Bobby Roode oozes superstar and heel to the point where he is still on his own level. A great step tonight in a unique way for these two men.
