The action was hot from the beginning, as Baron Corbin attacked Shinsuke Nakamura during his entrance. Kevin Owens and AJ Styles would join on stage and the brawling began. As the action got back into the ring, Baron would connect with a big boot and his signature side Deep Six to get a two count on Nakamura. Nakamura and Owens battled on the outside, but KO would get a blind tag from Corbin. Styles tried to hit a Styles Clash, but Owens hit a superkick and the a pop-up powerbomb for the win. Once again, the heels would victorious on Smackdown Live.

Tonight was a really good night to hype Battleground. Every important match got enough time and development to put the cherry on top of their feuds. Even though the WWE Championship has not ended Smackdown Live often, it kicked off the show in solid fashion. Cena carried us to the 9pm hour and over, while all of the women were given an important role tonight. Lastly, two feuds in one ended the night with an excellent and exciting tag team match. Smackdown Live focuses on their stars and their stars delivered in strong fashion tonight. Hell, even a two minute Chad Gable interview to break things up had meaning.

Each match might be predictable, but I do expect a few curveballs on Sunday from Philadelphia.

If you are in Philadelphia this weekend, make sure you grab a drink at Smith’s and let them know JI4 sent you.
