#2.) Putting Goldberg vs Hulk Hogan on free television

Goldberg was easily the hottest star in WCW in 1998 and they knew exactly what they had with him. He was boasting of an incredible undefeated streak and the logical step was for him to dethrone Hollywood Hogan on the big stage for the World title. Eric Bischoff could easily have put it on PPV and made a lot of money, but he chose to gamble and hosted an episode of Nitro in a packed Georgia Dome – which also happened to be Goldberg’s backyard.

In front of 41,412 fans, Goldberg would virtually squash Hogan to win his first and only World title in WCW. It ended up doing a whopping 6.91 rating, which is nearly 10 million viewers. It’s safe to say that the gamble paid off.
