When it comes to iconic, it doesn’t get much bigger than this. Dubbed as the Icon vs Icon match, it was a dream match-up that no one thought they would ever see in their wildest dreams. When Hulk Hogan had returned to WWE in 2002, he was welcomed back by the WWE Universe with the loudest of cheers. They refused to boo Hogan after seeing him return to WWE television for the first time in 9 years.
The dream bout took place in the Toronto Skydome in front of a rabid 68,000 fans. From the moment the match started to the staredown to the match itself, the crowd never went silent for a single moment. It was very clear that they were Pro-Hogan and just listening to the crowd can give chills down the spine.
It was The Rock who would stand tall and after an assault from Kevin Nash and Scott Hall, The Rock helped Hogan, with the latter turning face in the process. The following night on RAW, Hogan would receive a thunderous ovation and went on to win his final world championship soon after.
