Billed as Icon vs Icon, The Rock vs Hulk Hogan was a match that nobody thought they would ever see. Hogan was fresh off a return to the WWE and he was with the NWO. He was a big thorn in the side of The Rock and Stone Cold Steve Austin, which prompted The Brahma Bull to set up a dream match at WrestleMania in Toronto.
Although it didn’t go on last, it was the true main event and attraction of the show and over 65,000 people in the Toronto Skydome went wild, not even being quiet for a second. The staredown between the two was iconic and the crowd was so behind Hogan that it would give you chills down the spine. Ultimately, it was a “passing of the torch” type of match that saw The Rock win. The post-match angle also saw Hogan turn face after a beatdown from Kevin Nash and Scott Hall. The Rock would help him and the two shook hands in a huge sign of respect. If there’s only one word that can describe this match, it would be iconic.
