Jay Lethal Makes ROH History

Jay Lethal is a staple of Ring Of Honor television. Jay has just passed the number of cumulative days needed to become the second longest reigning Ring Of Honor world champion in history. The following is from ROHwrestling.com:

Jay Lethal continues to cement his legacy as one of the greatest world champions in Ring of Honor history.

Lethal achieved another milestone today when he moved past Nigel McGuinness into second place for most combined days as ROH World Champion at 546. Lethal trails only Samoa Joe, who held the title for 645 days.

Lethal, aptly named “The Franchise of ROH,” held title for 427 days in 2015-2016, and his second and current reign began on June 30 and is now at 119 days.

When taking into account his two reigns as ROH World Television Champion and one reign as ROH Pure Champion (a title that was merged with the ROH World Title in 2006), Lethal is the by far the most decorated singles competitor in ROH history, having spent 1,407 days with gold around his waist.

The competition is more fierce and the schedule more rigorous in ROH than it’s ever been, so it remains to be seen how long Lethal can remain on top, but he’s never been better in the ring, and at 33 years old, he is just entering his prime.

Lethal’s next title defense will be against Kenny King on Nov. 11 when the Global Wars tour concludes in Toronto. That match follows a grueling stretch for Lethal in which he will appear on the Chris Jericho Cruise Oct. 27-31 before competing at Steel City Excellence in Pittsburgh Nov. 3; Survival of the Fittest in Columbus, Ohio, Nov. 4; and Global Wars events in Lewiston, Maine Nov. 7; Lowell, Mass., Nov 8; and Buffalo, N.Y., Nov. 9.
