NJPW Reportedly Offering Big Money To WWE Superstars

A staple of the Monday Night Wars was WCW offering big money contracts for fewer dates to Superstars of the WWE. What’s old is new again as reportedly New Japan Pro-Wrestling is making similar offers to WWE Superstars.

On Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer opened up about reported offers being made saying the following:

“There were some offers that have been made to some guys in WWE that surprised me in the sense of how much they could make outside of WWE. One person who is there got an offer for ridiculous money for way less dates and it very much surprised me. This would be one of the top guys in WWE. New Japan is weird but they are willing to pay real big money like they did with  Jericho.”

One would have to assume that this is potentially referring to guys who have been in New Japan before like Shinsuke Nakamura, Karl Anderson, and Luke Gallows, stories recirculating that these three men might be interested in returning to Japan following with some may consider a less-than-stellar run for the three men in the WWE. Nakamura is the current WWE United States Champion but has not ruled out going to Japan again when his contract expires according to reports.
