GLOW Netflix Series Being Turned Into Comic Book Series By IDW Publishing

The hit Netflix series GLOW is being turned into a four-issue comic set by IDW Publishing. The books will follow an original story based around the critically-acclaimed series and its cast of characters. The books will be written by Tini Howard and illustrated by Hannah Templer. The comic book will be overseen by the show’s co-creators, Liz Flahive and Carly Mensch, who gave the following quote to The Hollywood Reporter:

We’re thrilled to work with IDW to bring new stories to life on the page and in the ring. Can we smoosh 14 women into a little frame? Only time will tell… but we couldn’t be more excited!

The Hollywood Reporter also spoke to the writer of the books, Tini Howard, who was overjoyed to be involved:

I’m more than just a GLOW fan, I’m a wrestling fan, too. I’ve written wrestling comics before, and I adore it. Wrestling and comic books are a natural fit for more than just tights and fights. Each of the gorgeous ladies has either developed her own character or adapted to one thrust upon her, and making that identity her own is not dissimilar to, say, putting on a bat costume.

The first book is slated to be available in March. IDW has also worked closely with Jim Cornette on a graphic novel Kickstarter project that is now available for pre-order on Amazon.
