2018 Wrestlezone Year-End Awards – Event Of The Year

Few would have expected the Event of the Year winner would have been a show not put on by WWE or New Japan Pro-Wrestling, but rather an independent show. However, that’s exactly what happened with All In, the incredible venture put together by Cody Rhodes and the Young Bucks. It won our fan voting with 35.6% of the vote.

The milestone event featured some of the biggest names in professional wrestling. Kazuchika Okada took on Marty Scurll, Kenny Omega tore down the house with Penta El Zero, and Rey Mysterio appeared in the six-man tag team main event. Throw in a historic NWA Heavyweight Championship match that saw Cody defeat Nick Aldis while being surrounded by WCW legends, and it was a huge celebration for wrestling as a whole.

Even more importantly, All In set the groundwork for what would become All Elite Wrestling. As such, it’s easily the most important event to happen from an industry standpoint, and the fact that it was a great show to watch, is really just the cherry on top.
