WTAE in Pittsburgh is reporting Eric Angle, brother of WWE’s Kurt Angle, was charged with assault in relation to an incident at a junior wrestling tournament.
According to witnesses, Angle picked up a young wrestler by his neck after a loss, and ended up letting the wrestler fall to the mat. Video obtained by the network also shows the incident in question here. Charges have been filed against Angle by the University of Pittsburgh police; Angle has since apologized and issued the following statement to the network:
“I should have just walked away and let him get thrown out. Instead, I’m the one who embarrassed myself even more.”
Angle had also commented on the matter on Facebook, saying he attempted to keep the boy from messing up, and ended up making things worse.
Eric Angle is Kurt’s older brother; he appeared on WWE TV in a few instances between 2000-2003 as Kurt’s ‘twin’, and also had a developmental deal in 2003.
