On Busted Open Radio, Bully Ray proposes that, from a storytelling perspective, Baron Corbin picking Becky Lynch as his special guest referee makes the most sense. Not only would Seth be distracted by his girlfriend’s presence in the ring during his title match, but it also introduces several scenarios that involve “Mr. Beast in the Bank” Brock Lesnar.
Two moments I see possibly happening. Seth and Becky face to face, maybe about to go for a kiss, Brock’s music hits. Or, Seth is down, Brock’s music hits, and Becky is the one who has to stand in front of Brock Lesnar.
Bully Ray goes on to compare the situation to a moment during last year’s All In that he was involved in. “When Jordan Grace turned around, who did she have to go face to face with? Me. At that moment, Jordan was made because she had the guts to stand up to me.” Bully sees an opportunity for Becky to get a similar boost, only on a bigger scale.
Of course, Bully also sees money in Becky mixing it up with the “Beast Incarnate.” “If Brock Lesnar F5’d Becky Lynch, I’d be in my glory. I’d love that. I would have Heyman handcuff Rollins to the ropes and then F5 Becky and then dangle the briefcase in front of Seth. Then tell him ‘I could have done this to you right now, but I did something that hurt you a lot more.'”
