ROH Wrestling Results (6/22/19): NWA National Championship Match

Mark Haskins and Tracy Williams briefly discuss their alliance with PJ Black, who says they’re going to win at Best in the World.

Kenny King vs. Jay Lethal

In the second match of a best-of-three series, the two rivals met in the main event. (King won the first match.) King offers a handshake and Lethal accepts. Both men exchange technical holds. King knocks Lethal down with a strike and poses for the crowd. The rivals trade chops and Lethal kicks King’s leg a few times. King hits a corkscrew dive to the outside.

Lethal fights back but he gets sent hard into the turnbuckles. King throws Lethal out of the ring but the ROH World Champion perseveres. He plants King with the Lethal Combination. Lethal briefly locks in the Figure Four but King reaches the ropes. Three dives to the outside give Lethal all the momentum. King practically gives Lethal the finger and tries to get himself counted out but Lethal chases him. After hitting Lethal with a microphone, King gets himself disqualified.

Winner via disqualification: Jay Lethal

King keeps attacking Lethal after the match. He low blows the former ROH World Champion and plants him with a Lethal Injection. King legdrops Lethal’s elbow while it’s trapped ina chair and stomps on it, too. He asks Lethal if he feels like a winner. King says he wants to take Lethal down in front of everyone at Best in the World.

ROH World TV Champion Matt Taven says he’s tired of hearing about Jeff Cobb’s accomplishments. He says Best in the World is named after him but he’s not getting any of the attention. Taven lists his accomplishments all over the world. He asks why nobody is talking about Matt Taven. The champion says the title isn’t going anywhere and he’ll continue to rule over ROH.
