Bobby Lashley wasn’t around to build for his WrestleMania 36 match against Aleister Black because he was in quarantine leading up to the big event.
According to a report in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Lashley originally supposed to be on the March 16 episode of RAW to announce the match with Black, but ended up in quarantine after the international tour was rescheduled due to the coronavirus.
The match ended getting announced the following week and it looks to still be on at time of writing. WWE reportedly filmed as much content as they could this week before a mandated shutdown by Orange County, Florida officials. It’s worth noting that the ordinance does allow travel for work, but it’s unclear how that affects WWE or if the Lashley versus Black match was taped.
As far as why the matchup was scheduled in the first place, Meltzer noted that Lana was available earlier than expected due to a current role being halted by the coronavirus and speculated that her availability is why Lashley was paired with Black on the show.
