Updates Regarding The NXT Announcing Team

This past Wednesday’s NXT didn’t have the familiar voices of Mauro Ranallo, Nigel McGuinness nor Beth Phoenix on hand to call the action. It happened to be Tom Phillips taking the commentary reigns, but according to Dave Meltzer there are some obvious reasons for the stalwarts behind the booth staying on the sidelines.

Despite not seeing them for weeks, Meltzer writes in his latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter that both McGuinness and Phoenix are indeed still with WWE, but due to the fact that both have young children and would have to deal with two weeks of quarantine after filming, both are not working currently.

As far as Mauro Ranallo, the lead NXT announcer has decided not to make the trip from his residence in Southern California. Meltzer notes that Ranallo’s voice has been used on the NXT programming and that WWE is looking into ways to have him call the matches from his home.
