IMPACT Wrestling Fires Tessa Blanchard, Strips Her Of IMPACT World Championship

Tessa Blanchard’s IMPACT Wrestling tenure has come to an end.

What should have been a historic championship reign for not just IMPACT but the industry at large has ended in controversy and obscurity. Tessa Blanchard, who was IMPACT Wrestling’s World Champion up until this evening, has been let go by the promotion.

PWInsider first reported the departure; IMPACT Wrestling followed by issuing a statement to WrestleZone, seen below.

Impact Wrestling confirmed that it has terminated its relationship with Tessa Blanchard and stripped her of the Impact Wrestling World Championship.

Tessa has been quarantined in her Mexican residence since the start of the COVID-19 outbreak, slated to return to the promotion to defend her title at Slammiversary on July 18. She had been set to send taped promos for episodes of television to set up the five-way title match, but she never did, forcing the company to rework segments of their show on short notice. Blanchard has been a subject of contention throughout the year, with social media messages from former co-workers accusing her of racism just before she was set to win the gold at Hard to Kill this past January.

Daga, Blanchard’s fiance, is also quarantined in Mexico but still currently signed to a “multi-year” IMPACT contract as of this writing.
