WWE NXT New Year’s Evil Results (1/6/21)

Backstage, Adam Cole says the golden prophecy will be fulfilled again. It starts tonight when Kyle O’Reilly becomes the undisputed NXT Champion.

NXT Cruiserweight Championship Match: Santos Escobar (c) w/Legado del Fantasma vs. Gran Metalik w/Lince Dorado

Escobar forces Metalik into the corner. Escobar fakes a clean break, but Metalik ducks his cheap shot attempt. Metalik lands a few rannas before Escobar retreats out of the ring. Metalik gets sent to the apron. Escobar slides through Metalik’s legs. As soon as Escobar lands, Metalik hits an Asai moonsault. Metalik sends Escobar back into the ring. Metalik enters the ring with a senton. Metalik walks the ropes and tries a ranna off the apron but Escobar catches Metalik and powerbombs him into the barricade.

After the break, Escobar drops Metalik, ribs first on the top turnbuckle. Metalik surprises Escobar with a rolling sunset flip. Escobar kicks out. Metalik kicks Escobar in the head. Metalik skips the ropes before hitting a dropkick. Escobar rolls out of the ring. Metalik lands a dive to the outside. Metalik gets a two count after a splash of the ropes. Metalik takes to the skies but Escobar meets him in the air with a knee strike. Metalik falls to the outside. Escobar destroys Metalik with a suicide dive.

Metalik kicks out again. Escobar sets up his finish. Metalik escapes. Escobar sits Metalik on the top rope. Escobar pushes Metalik off the top rope. Escobar goes for Metalik’s mask. Dorado dives off the steps onto Mendoza and Wilde as they advanced towards Metalik. Escobar pulls Metalik off the top and hits Legado. Escobar pins Metalik after the Phantom Driver.

Winner and STILL NXT Cruiserweight Champion, Santos Escobar!
