Sami Zayn On Kevin Owens Taking Time Off: ‘If He Needs A Break, That’s Not My Problem’

It doesn’t seem like Sami Zayn feels bad about Kevin Owens’ decision to take a break after the WWE Hell in a Cell pay-per-view.

On Monday, following his loss to Sami Zayn, Owens took to social media to reveal that he is taking some time off. He didn’t provide any additional explanation, but he might have chosen to step away to recover from several injuries he suffered at the hands of Zayn and Commander Azeez in recent weeks.

On the newest episode of WWE’s The Bump, Zayn was asked if he believed Kevin Owens having to take time off following their matchup was a form of karma. Zayn explained that it was karmic justice, and he also took credit for the victory.

“Yeah, I definitely believe that,” Sami Zayn said. “But you know, first of all, what happened in the match with he and I was not a result of the Nigerian Nail that he took a couple of weeks ago. I injured his shoulder, and if you watch the match back, there’s a specific moment in there that his shoulder gives out he’s fighting half the match with one arm. That was me, don’t give the credit to Commander Azeez, okay?”

Zayn then emphasized that he wants people to know that he defeated Owens, and he doesn’t want the narrative surrounding the bout to put too much weight on Azeez. He also stated that as far as Owens is concerned, he can simply “stay the hell away.”

“Again, I don’t know if this is on your notes, and the people in your headset are telling you to do this, to try to kind of negate my victory, but it was a hard-fought victory,” said Zayn. “I take full credit. I think the Nigerian Nail had very little to play in it, and quite frankly, that’s more credit than Commander Azeez deserves. I deserve the credit.

“I fought that match, I punched him in the face, he punched me in the face, and the better man came out on top. And now, if he needs a break. That’s not my problem; just stay the hell away from me. That’s how I feel.”
