Renee Paquette: AEW Storylines Are Layered And Intricate, It’s Something You Don’t Get To See In WWE

Renee Paquette recently touched on the differences between how companies like WWE and All Elite Wrestling go about telling the stories on their weekly shows. Paquette shared her belief about why AEW’s method seems to be a bit more popular.

Speaking on the latest episode of her podcast, Oral Sessions with Renee Paquette, she discussed how “layered and intricate” the world of All Elite Wrestling is becoming. She argued that the same can’t be said about WWE.

“It’s just so layered and so intricate,” Paquette said. “And I think that there’s just so much to really sink your teeth into as a wrestling fan, of like wait this means this for this promotion and this means this in this promotion and yeah the history.

“There’s so many deep roots that just makes the storytelling really fun and engaging to watch, to just see that long game. And that’s something that you never get to see in WWE.”

Paquette went on to take some not-so-subtle references to WWE’s approach, as she hinted that the company has a history for treating its fans as “stupid” when it comes to understanding certain storylines.

“They [AEW] don’t treat their fans as stupid in terms of like well you don’t know what this is and we’re gonna beat you over the head with it now to make sure you understand it,” said Paquette. “And I understand the reasoning of why they do that, obviously, but I think with smart fans and the way people have access to looking into information that they might not know and being able to connect the dots themselves, I think there’s something really cool about that, that people like to have that sort of sense of discovery rather than being talked to like they don’t understand how s—- works.”
