Britt Baker Says She Signed A Long-Term Contract Extension With AEW

Tony Khan has stated he wants to bring the excitement of free agency back to professional wrestling. Last night, Dr. Britt Baker D.M.D. got in the free agency fun on AEW Dynamite by teasing the signing of a big free agent who ended up being… herself.

Wrestling fans are well aware that Britt Baker’s boyfriend Adam Cole‘s WWE contract expired on August 27. Many have already begun to speculate about his potential arrival to All Elite Wrestling. Last night on social media during AEW Dynamite, Britt Baker heavily leaned into the speculation by sending out the following tweet during the show:

“I have a huge announcement! Big free agent news coming up LIVE on #AEWDynamite when I chat with my BFF @tonyschiavone24,” Britt Baker tweeted.

This sent the internet into a frenzy with anticipation that Britt Baker would be the one to announce Adam Cole’s arrival to All Elite Wrestling. Instead, Baker swerved everyone by announcing that she was the free agent and that Tony Khan has signed her to a new multi-year contract extension to keep her as part of the AEW roster for years to come.

In an update from Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select, Britt Baker has in fact signed an extension to remain with All Elite Wrestling. So there was truth to the champion’s words last night regardless of its intent.

Although last night was ultimately a clever tease based on truth, Baker’s promo did serve a purpose. Baker also said that as part of her “negotiations” for her contract, she was able to pick a match and got Jamie Hayter and Reba into the Women’s Casino Battle Royale at All Out.
