Tony Khan Names New Four Pillars of AEW

Tony Khan says these four stars are the new pillars of All Elite Wrestling.

The term “Four Pillars” has become synonymous with AEW over the years. The phrase was popularized by AEW World Champion MJF, who identified himself, Darby Allin, Sammy Guevara, and “Jungle” Jack Perry as the promotion’s foundational young stars.

With AEW now entering its seventh year and several new talents emerging as major players, Tony Khan was recently asked who he considers the modern-day pillars of the promotion.

Speaking with Q93 ahead of this Wednesday’s episode of Dynamite and Sunday’s Forbidden Door pay-per-view, Khan admitted there is no definitive answer.

“Well, that’s a great question, and it’s tricky because it’s somewhat in the eye of the beholder. You know, you could ask 100 fans to pick four pillars, and they might have 99 different answers,” Khan said.

Khan then named four stars who have joined AEW in recent years and become integral members of the roster.

“In this case, there are so many great young wrestlers. If I was to pick from a young group right now that has come in in recent years, I would say of the new arrivals, you’d have Thekla, Kevin Knight, I think Kyle Fletcher, and looking up and down the roster, I mean, Mercedes Moné.

“Really, when I look at the AEW stars, we had a great roster at the very beginning, and we brought in great free agents as we’ve gone on that have come in in recent years. So, those would be four great people that have come into AEW in recent years that are now very important in the company.”

Tony Khan’s AEW pillars will all have major roles to play at Forbidden Door this Sunday.

Thekla is set to defend the AEW Women’s World Championship against Stardom standout Starlight Kid. Meanwhile, Mercedes Moné will face Maya World in the Women’s Owen Hart Cup Tournament Final, with the winner earning a championship opportunity at All In.

Elsewhere on the card, Kevin Knight and Kyle Fletcher will join forces with MJF, Andrade, Jake Doyle, and Kazuchika Okada in a star-studded twelve-man tag team Steel Cage match. They will take on Team Briscoe, consisting of Mark Briscoe, Orange Cassidy, Roderick Strong, Kyle O’Reilly, Konosuke Takeshita, and Darby Allin.

WrestleZone will provide live coverage of AEW Dynamite and Forbidden Door.
