Lance Archer Wants To ‘Come Home’ And Wrestle In Japan So He Can Represent Both AEW And NJPW

Lance Archer is a star in both New Japan Pro-Wrestling and All Elite Wrestling, and he recently described how he appreciates his prominent place on the bridge between the two companies.

In an interview with NJPW’s official website, Archer looked back on the “special” night when he won the IWGP United States Heavyweight Championship at AEW Fyter Fest Night Two in a brutal bout with Jon Moxley. He noted that, as someone who has represented both AEW and NJPW, he is cerainly part of the bridge, which he pointed to as in important aspect of both companies and wrestling itself.

“It was absolutely special for me, one of the more special moments of my career,” said Archer. “I was able to twice represent NJPW as its US champion, even if the second time wasn’t in a New Japan ring. It really feels for me now that, along with Jon Moxley and some other guys, I’m part of that bridge between NJPW and AEW, and that’s huge because I think that bridge is important to both companies, and to the whole business.”

Travel restrictions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic continue to delay Archer’s return to Japan, but he made it clear that he looks forward to competing overseas again. He shared his appreciation for Japan and the distinct environment at its wrestling. “The Murderhawk Monster” then expressed that he wants to compete there again so he can represent both countries.

“When I signed with AEW, one of the key points for me was that if the opportunity came along with NJPW, and it didn’t interfere with my schedule, then I would be able to do it,” said Archer. “As soon as we can figure out the real world stuff, then I’m looking forward to what would be for me the chance to come home. Back in a Japanese ring, and representing AEW and NJPW together.”

Archer will be part of NJPW’s stateside shows over the next several weeks, starting with the Autumn Attack event on Septepmber 25-26.
