CM Punk vs. Powerhouse Hobbs, Trios Match Announced For Two-Hour AEW Rampage: Grand Slam, Updated Card

AEW Dynamite won’t be the only show billed as “Grand Slam” next week, as AEW Rampage will be held under the same banner on September 24.

The broadcast team confirmed this news this week on AEW Dynamite, and the company also booked three major matches for AEW Rampage: Grand Slam, a special two-hour event.

This supercard of a show will be packed with several exciting matches. CM Punk will wrestle on cable television for the first time since 2014 when he faces Powerhouse Hobbs of Team Taz. Hobbs and his stablemates have been feuding with Punk in recent weeks, and the conflict reached another level this Wednesday when Hobbs slammed Punk through the broadcast table. This bout will mark Punk’s second match since he returned to wrestling and signed with AEW; in his first outing, he defeated Darby Allin at AEW All Out.

Plus, fellow AEW newcomer Adam Cole will join forces with the Young Bucks to face Christian Cage and Jurassic Express. Cole, on behalf of the Young Bucks, challenged Cage, Jungle Boy and Luchasaurus to the match this week on AEW Dynamite after the two sides have been at odds since Cole’s AEW debut at All Out. Cage accepted the challenge on Wednesday night, so the match was made official.

Finally, after Chris Jericho and Jake Hager answered Dan Lambert’s “Tough Guy Challenge”, they’ll face Scorpio Sky and Ethan Page.

The updated card is as follows:

  • CM Punk vs. Powerhouse Hobbs (with Hook)
  • SuperKliq (Adam Cole and the Young Bucks) vs. Christian Cage and Jurassic Express
  • Chris Jericho and Jake Hager vs. Men of the Year (Ethan Page and Scorpio Sky)
