Report: Gran Metalik Has Requested His WWE Release

It appears as if Gran Metalik has had enough of his time in WWE.

According to Miguel Reducindo of Mas Lucha, Gran Metalik of the Lucha House Party has requested his release from WWE.

Gran Metalik is currently contracted to WWE until 2023 but wants out of his contract due to a “lack of opportunities.” This isn’t particularly surprising due to the start-stop pushes of both Metalik and the Lucha House Party tag team in the last couple of years.

If WWE grants Metalik his release, there should be no shortage of companies looking to add him to their roster throughout the United States, Japan, and Mexico. At this time, it is unknown whether or not WWE will grant Gran Metalik’s request, but we should probably hear something regarding that sooner rather than later.

Gran Metalik has been with WWE since 2016 when he appeared in the Cruiserweight Classic tournament. He was the runner-up in the tournament, losing to T.J. Perkins in the final round matchup. Despite his time as a tag team wrestler with Lucha House Party, his only title win in the company came in the form of a brief WWE 24/7 Championship reign. Prior to his WWE career, he was known as Máscara Dorada in Mexico, and worked as Plata II for a time. He is a former CMLL World Super Lightweight Champion, Trios Champion, and won the promotion’s Welterweight Championship four times.
