GCW Josh Barnett’s Bloodsport 7 Results (10/22/21)

  • JR Kratos defeated Calvin Tankman via knockout
    • The two powerhouses attempt some strikes, but they both dodge each other. Tankman takes Kratos down and grounds him. Kratos turns the tables and gains the upper hand. Tankman rocks Kratos with some knees, but Kratos suplexes him.



      Some strikes rock Tankman, but he fires back with a German suplex of his own. A back elbow stuns Kratos, but he drops Tankman with a knee. A running strike puts him down, as the referee calls for the bell.
  • Tom Lawlor defeated Alex Coughlin via submission
    • Lawlor wears the classic dojo-style black trunks and a fake mustache, seemingly either to mock Coughlin or, as the broadcast team points out, Dan Severn. The two men feel each other out, and Lawlor takes Coughlin to the mat. “Filthy Tom” targets Coughlin’s leg, but the captain of the LA Dojo gets back to his feet.



      The two competitors trade stiff slaps to the face. Coughlin drills Lawlor with an elbow, but “Filthy Tom” rocks him with a knee and locks in a choke. Coughlin lifts Lawlor with one arm and slams him to the mat. He drills Lawlor with some strikes and again slams Lawlor in an impressive feat of strength. Lawlor earns the win with a double heel hook; he offers Coughlin his hand after the match, but Coughlin slaps him in the face.

  • Davey Richards defeated Yuya Uemura via submission

    • Richards quickly takes Uemura to the mat, as Uemura counters Richards at every turn. The match is a stalemate early on, but a double stomp helps Richards take control. Uemura goes for a heel hook, but Richards escapes. Both men trade stiff blows. A dropkick from Uemura sends Richards to the outside, and he drills Richards with a flurry of strikes.



      Richards wrenches Uemura’s ankle, but he escapes. A nasty knee floors Richards, and Uemura goes for an arm-bar. Richards reverses it into an ankle lock and holds on while his opponent tries to escape. “The American Wolf” keeps it locked in despite Uemura’s best efforts and forces him to tap out.
  • Josh Barnett defeated Tiger Ruas via submission.

    • Both fighters trade strikes early on. Ruas takes Barnett down, but when the two men get back to the feet, Barnett slams Ruas to the mat. Barnett twists Ruas’ ankle and locks in a knee-bar. Ruas gains control and slams Barnett. He traps Barnett’s arm and blasts him with some palm strikes. Barnett suplexes Ruas, mounts him, and strikes him. Ruas locks in a knee-bar, but Barnett blasts him with some blows to the chest.



      Ruas slams Barnett again, but the former UFC Heavyweight Champion drops Ruas with a sidewalk slam. Ruas kicks Barnett and takes him to the mat. With a nasty kick to the head, Ruas stuns Barnett and suplexes him. The two men exchange strikes, and Barnett earns the win by making Ruas tap out to an arm-bar; they shake hands ans celebrate after the bout.
  • Minoru Suzuki vs. Chris Dickinson

    • Dickinson takes Suzuki down right away and strikes him. Suzuki gets back to his feet, but Dickinson takes him back down and traps him in a leg-lock. Suzuki leaves the ring and pops a squat in the first row, daring Dickinson to come fight him. He invites his opponent to fight him on the outside.  Back in the ring, even after he gives Suzuki the advantage, Dickinson takes him down. Suzuki gains the upper hand and targets Suzuki’s arm. Dickinson traps Suzuki in a leg lock, but he laughs it off.



      He then blasts Suzuki with some stiff chops, and now Suzuki isn’t laughing. He chops Dickinson, who gives him one right back. They continue to trade brutal chops, and Dickinson suplexes Suzuki. The living legend drives his knuckle into Dickinson’s eye and drops him with a chop. Suzuki borrows from Bryan Danielson’s book and stomps Dickinson while he holds his arms. Some stiff forearms rock Dickinson, but he gives some strikes right back.



      They trade blows, and neither man budges as Dickinson begs for more. They trade submission attempts, and Suzuki rolls to the floor. Dickinson rocks Suzuki with several kicks, but Suzuki drops him with a single blow. Suzuki locks in a high-angle crap and makes Dickinson tap out.
