John Morrison Announces AAA Return, Challenges El Hijo Del Vikingo To Match At ‘Rey De Reyes’

John Morrison is heading back south of the border.

AAA has announced that recently released WWE star John Morrison has returned and the former Mega Champion immediately called out the current champion El Hijo Del Vikingo for a match at the company’s ‘Rey De Reyes’ event on February 19.

Morrison cut a promo on Vikingo and challenged the champion to a match.

“Hi AAA fans…Vikingo, AAA Mega Champion? What is going on over there [laughs]? I will say that I’ve heard from a lot of people that, you, Vikingo are a prodigy and I don’t think that they’re wrong. You know how I know? Because I was a prodigy. That’s right, when I was your age, I was wrestling The Undertaker in Iraq. When I was your age, I beat Rey Mysterio and Eddie Guerrero for the world tag team titles. I was a prodigy…and now I’m a legend.

“You know who else is a legend? Kenny Omega. But you didn’t beat Kenny Omega, you beat a bunch of kids for the AAA Mega Championship. Bandido, Kalisto, uh, I mean Samuray del Sol [laughs]. On February 19, Vikingo, I’m going to show you the difference between a prodigy and a legend. You see bro, this is my world…and you’re just living in it.”

Morrison competed in AAA from 2015 to 2018, where he won the AAA Mega, Latin America and Cruiserweight titles.

El Hijo del Vikingo won the Mega Championship on December 4 at Triplemanía Regia II, beating Samuray del Sol, Jay Lethal, Bobby Fish, and Bandido in a five-way match for the vacant title. Kenny Omega, the previous champion, vacated the title after his 765-day reign ended due to injury.
