Sean Waltman Discusses His In-Ring Return, Describes How He’s Healthy And ‘Clear-Headed’

Sean Waltman, also known as X-Pac, will make his return to the ring at GCW Welcome To Heartbreak, where he’ll team up with Joey Janela to face Matt Cardona and Brian Myers.

For the two-time WWE Hall of Famer, this bout will be a triumphant comeback following his battles with health issues. In December, he stated that he’d been medically cleared, so it was only a matter of time before he wrestled again.

In an interview with Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated, Waltman expressed his excitement for his return; he made it clear that, equipped with a healthy body and mind, he plans to have some great matches.

“I did pretty well in this industry when I wasn’t clear-headed, so think of what I can do with a healthy mind and healthy body,” said Waltman. “I don’t know how many matches I have left in me, so I’m going to go out there and have some great f—ing matches.”

As fans have seen with other legends in recent years, Waltman plans to make the most of this opportunity to rewrite the last chapter of his carer. He vowed to make this run “different” than his last few matches prior to this return.

During an appearance on WWE’s The Bump in December, Waltman expressed his interest in returning to WWE, at least for a brief cameo in the Royal Rumble match. Instead, the special event is now in the rearview mirror, and the Hall of Famer didn’t compete in the bout. Waltman stated that he reached out to the company at some point before the show, but it didn’t pan out.

“As far as the Royal Rumble, I gave them a heads up I’d be ready if they wanted me,” said Waltman. “I wasn’t actively campaigning for it. I wasn’t going to do that. But I let them know, and I guess they weren’t interested.”

Moving forward, Waltman is excited to show the world what he can do now that he’s physically and mentally healthy. He described his efforts to resolve some of the health issues that have been holding him back before he stated that, whereas he played his greatest hits last time around, he wants to show fans some of his new songs now.

“I want to do it while I still can,” said Waltman. “I’ve worked on my body and got a lot of my health issues resolved. My right knee struggled for years, but it’s feeling great now. I’m motivated, I’m happy, and I’m hungry. This is holistic. It’s more than just having my body in good shape again. I’m clear-headed.

“This is a chance to play a few songs off the new album. There is a lot I want to prove to people that have believed in me for a long time.”

Time will tell what the future holds for Waltman, but for now, fans can look forward to seeing him and Janela face Cardona and Myers at GCW Welcome To Heartbreak.
