Big E Didn’t Expect To Reunite With New Day After WWE Title Loss, Remains Focused On Controlling What He Can

Big E remains focused on making the most out of what he’s given.

“The Powerhouse of Positivity” reached new heights when he won the WWE Championship last September, but his reign abruptly ended at WWE Day 1, when Brock Lesnar, a last-minute addition to the multi-man title match, walked away with the gold. Shortly after this loss, Big E moved back over to SmackDown and reunited with his New Day stablemates.

In an interview with Alex McCarthy of talkSPORT, the former champion looked back on this transition and admitted that he didn’t expect it. Instead, he had been hoping to earn another title shot. While he has been teaming up with Kofi Kingston in recent weeks, Big E noted that he could potentially challenge for the WWE Universal Championship at some point.

“…I don’t want any of that to be perceived as me taking away from being with Kofi and Woods,” said Big E. “That’s my greatest delight. For me, it was a transition I will say I did not expect at this time in my career.

“I had hoped to climb back and try once again to win back the WWE championship. But, we have a pretty big champion [Roman Reigns] and pretty big title on SmackDown as well so, you never know.
