Taya Valkyrie Defeats Deonna Purrazzo, Wins AAA Reina de Reinas Title

Taya Valkyrie walked into IMPACT Rebellion with one goal, and accomplished it, taking down Deonna Purrazzo to become the new AAA Reina de Reinas Champion.

In an incredible match at the pay-per-view, it was Valkyrie who started out hot and continued the momentum, never letting up and going on to win. Late in the match, Valkyrie was even able to withstand being put in the Fujiwa armbar by Purrazzo. After getting to the ropes, Valkyrie then fought back with Deonna before hitting the Road to Valhalla for the win.

With the loss, Deonna’s reign as AAA Reina de Reinas Champion ends at 252 days. She’s held the title since beating Faby Apache at Triplemanía XXIX in August 2021. This is Taya’s fourth run with the title and first since 2019. Her last reign was 500+ days and only ended because she vacated the title and signed with WWE.

For a brief recap of how the title match came to an end, check out below courtesy of our live, play-by-play coverage:

It’s Taya Valkyrie who begins the bout off hot. She’s in complete control as she nails her Pandemonium move in the corner. Momentum turns when Deonna collides Taya into the ring post. Deonna gets the action back into the ring to lock a Koji clutch but it gets broken up with a pin attempt.

Fight goes to the otuside once more and Taya hits a Russian leg sweep against apron. Both women scream at one another in the ring and Taya is back in control. Taya goes for a Road to Valhalla, but Purrazzo hits a pump kick and standing knee. She locks in her Fujiwa armbar. Taya makes it to the ropes, but Deonna holds until five.

Taya gets back in the game and hits a big time sit-out powerbomb. Soon enough, Taya hits her Road To Vallhalla and gets the three count.
