Brody King says fans just need to have a little patience and give AEW a chance to get to their Endgame.
In an interview with Innes McVey of Inside The Ropes, Brody King spoke about some of the criticism of the current Julia Hart storyline with his House Of Black stable. King pointed to the Marvel Cinematic Universe to highlight how fans that wait for the full story to play out are rewarded.
“I feel like the fans want instant gratification at all times and they get frustrated when they have to wait for it. But then once it all pans out and you finally see the finished product and why these things are happening, they go, ‘oh.’ And then they get to go do these callbacks and all these little Easter eggs and hints they were given along the way. I feel like if we watched Endgame before we saw 20 movies before that and Thanos just got defeated, it’s like okay. But they get you invested and they get you to this point where you have to wait for it and you want it and you’re just dying for it, and then it finally happens,” King noted, “and you’re like ‘yes, that is why I waited this long for it.’
“So you know, not to say that this is as complex as that, but I feel like wrestling is at times missing that, making the fans wait for it. Making them literally beg for it and at times criticize it because they’re not getting it. My three-year-old, when he wants ice cream and I tell him he’s gotta wait for dinner, he’s gonna yell at me until he gets it,” King stated. “But then when he gets it, he’s happy about it.”
