Curtis Axel Appears On 5/30 Episode Of WWE RAW

Curtis Axel was back on WWE RAW this week.

As seen on the May 30 episode of WWE RAW, Curtis Axel (Joe Hennig) was spotted during a pull-apart brawl between Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins. The appearance is interesting since Axel was released by the company two years ago, and hasn’t made an on-air return as a performer since he was cut.

Axel was released by WWE in 2020 and largely kept a low profile since then. Fightful Select reported that he had a tryout as a producer during an April episode of SmackDown, but no other details about his status had been reported since.

Prior to his release by the company, Hennig had not been featured on WWE programming since the February 28, 2020 episode of WWE SmackDown. Axel lost a singles match to Daniel Bryan on the show; this was also the last match he’s wrestled.
