Killer Kross understood that whatever character he came up with for professional wrestling would need to be easily integrated into the commercialized wrestling model.
Speaking about the concept of time and his Tick Tock / Tollman character, Kross said that he knew that time was everywhere and it would benefit his persona, but it could possibly lead to marketing opportunities as well.
“Even before I ever went to television, I thought, what’s gonna make me different? Why would someone want to sign me when there’s 1000s upon 1000s of wrestlers, not even just nationally, but globally,” Killer Kross said. “And I thought to myself, ‘I’m gonna have to appeal to a business sense’, and I knew that just looking at a commercialized wrestling model. They want to monetize everything, and I thought, ‘well, if we’re talking about clocks and tick-tock, you can do hourglasses, you can do watches.’
“Time is everywhere,” he stated. “It’s on your phone. It’s on your walls, and I thought that that might be a great way to sort of brainwash people.”
Scarlett also spoke about the couple’s recent work in NXT, explaining that portraying the Doomsday characters on the show was very challenging during the beginning of COVID. She noted that the world was already so dark because of the pandemic, and they didn’t know if the act would become too depressing for the people watching at home.
“It’s funny, the one time it was actually challenging, I think, for both of us to focus on the Doomsday stuff was the very beginning of COVID,” Scarlett Bordeaux revealed. “When we had to do the Doomsday, the end is near [act], that was really challenging, especially when the world felt so dark. And being that dark also to the public was like *sigh*, we kind of in that realm wanted to go in a different direction because it felt too depressing to the people at home.”
Killer Kross is set to make his return to MLW at Battle Riot IV, while Scarlett will make her in-ring debut for the company at the same event.
