Tatanka vs. Matt Cardona Announced For The Wrestling Showcase

Tatanka and Matt Cardona will officially meet at the Wrestling Showcase later this year.

As announced by Wrestling Inc, Matt Cardona recently learned that he will be squaring off with WWE Legend Tatanka at The Wrestling Showcase on September 3rd. Upon learning the news, Cardona spoke candidly about his thoughts on Tatanka, who he’s also been battling on social media as of late.

“When I had my figure fed in the early 90’s, I always made them lose. I’m gonna make him lose here, you know what I’m saying? Tatanka was never a top guy. He had that shot at the IC title at WrestleMania. Did he win? No. I had a shot at the IC Title at WrestleMania. Did I win? Yes I did,” Cardona reiterated.

“In his head, Tatanka thinks he’s this true Hall of Famer. He’s not even a Hall Of Famer. Maybe he has a Legends deal, but almost everyone has a [WWE] legends deal,” he continued. “Tatanka is running his mouth on social media. I don’t get it. His time’s over. I will say this, he’s in phenomenal shape. He looks great. He could still go in the ring.”

Tatanka last competed in the Figure Wrestling Federation last November against Brian Myers. Cardona continued on, making note of that appearance.

“The Major Wrestling Figure, cheap plug, we put on wrestling shows called the FWF. Tatanka was in action against Brian Meyers for FWF2, available on FITE TV if you watch the replay, and he didn’t miss a beat. So, it’s not like this is going to be an easy victory, but even with one arm, I’m gonna beat Tatanka.”

It’s worth noting that Cardona’s match against Tatanka was announced after he confirmed he would need surgery to repair a torn bicep. Cardona is expected to miss 3-5 months to recover, which could potentially put his Wrestling Showcase match in jeopardy. Cardona is scheduled to have surgery on June 7, but still says he’s planning on appearing at NWA Alwayz Ready one way or another.

WrestleZone recently spoke with Killer Kross, who is also one of the other entrants in The Wrestling Showcase tournament. Kross will face off with Tony Nese and spoke about what the high-profile event means to him.

“I’ve always been addicted to the big fight feel scenarios and this has got it. These types of tournaments, every single professional wrestler should be striving to be part of these types of things. This is where you’re really going to find out who you are in the ring. You’re going to find out if you can hang. One-off matches? They’re a dime a dozen, they could be five-star, they could be super-violent, they could be career-defining, but when you get into a situation where you might have to wrestle two, three, four or five times in one night in these types of tournaments, this is what I’m looking for.”
